The Ardaf (ARDF) and Generali Asigurari shareholders will convene in the second half of August to discuss the two companies’ merger, and the former, which is the absorbing company, will be renamed Generali Romania after the process is completed, Mediafax reports. The Ardaf and Generali shareholders’ meeting is scheduled for August 25. According to the merger project, the operation’s main target is to consolidate the Italian group Generali’s position on the Romanian market. “Generali Romania aims to become the reference company for the entire range of insurance products, both for Romanian companies and individual clients, after the group came in fifth in the ranking of insurers operating in Romania, based on premiums subscribed in 2010, and to claim a larger share of the market. In keeping with the decision to go on using both brands, the two companies’ selling networks will be maintained as well,” according to the merger project published in the Official Monitor.
