Ford to build SUV in Craiova

Ford is working on a SUV based on the Fiesta platform. The vehicle will be built in Craiova, alongside the B-Max, autoexpress.co.uk writes, being quoted by capital.ro. The new small-sized SUV will be presented for the first time in the world at the Auto Show in Geneva in March 2012. The car has already been tested on the streets of London. The car will compete with Nissan Juke and will be available in 2×4 and 4×4 options. In what concerns the engine options, the car can have a gasoline or diesel oil engine. The small-size SUV will have a 1-liter, 90 HP EcoBoost engine produced in Craiova and 1.6-liter stop/start booster. The car’s price will start off from EUR 16,000.  Production for the 1-liter EcoBoost low-consumption engine will start in the first part of 2012 in Craiova. This is one of the most advanced engines technologically and efficiency-wise. The engine has an efficient design, three cylinders and performances identical to those of a four-cylinder engine but at a lower consumption and emissions.
