Saturday, August 6, marks a premiere for the Bucegi Mountain area: the first edition of the “Bolboci Lake Day” festival, according to a press release. The project is funded out of European money and proposes to draw tourists to an area filled with wild beauty, a mountain destination that is, as yet, known to few. The festival, taking place on Saturday, will have as its highlight a folk concert offered by Vasile Seicaru, Emeric Imre and the band Karma.
The festival, an initiative meant to promote genuine Romanian values, proposes to draw attention to an area with a rare potential for tourism. The public will have a chance to get better acquainted with local customs and culture, an important element adding to Romania’s appeal as a tourist destination.
Tourists and nature-lovers are invited to visit the Bolboci artificial lake and to take part in the series of events the organizers have in store for them. The festival will kick off with a brass-band march and a period figures’ parade, re-enacting significant historical events. Around noon, the “Chindia” Orchestra and the Targoviste folk dance ensemble will present the finest traditional songs and dances from the Dambovita area. Children have not been forgotten either, as the organizers prepared interactive water-related activities and competitions for them.
The Bolboci Lake has managed to preserve an untainted, genuine quality, and offers very cool water even during the summer. The pure air, the emerald green of the lake as it mirrors the mountains and, above all, perfect peace and quiet, these are some of the things recommending this tourist destination in Romania, as yet very little known.
The event organizer is the Karitas Foundation, while the project is funded via the 2007 – 2013 Regional Operational Program, the priority axis 5 – Sustainable development and the promotion of tourism, 53 – Promoting potential for tourism and creating the infrastructure needed to enhance Romania’s appeal as a tourist destination.
