Manuela Vulpe, appointed Romanian ambassador to Argentina

The diplomat Manuela Vulpe was appointed ambassador to Argentina, by a decree signed, yesterday, by the president Traian Basescu. Vulpe’s appointment was approved, in June, by the Foreign Affairs Committees, with 25 votes “in favour” and three against. At the same time, the head of state signed, on Tuesday, the decrees by which Roxana Daniela Iftimie and Daniel Banu were appointed ambassadors to Luxembourg and, respectively, Serbia. The name of the former Romanian ambassador to Mexico Manuela Vulpe was involved in a scandal in June 2007, after the Romanian newspapers were forwarded a series of email the latter had sent and received, some of which were sent to/ by Teodor Baconschi and hinted at a possible intimate relation between the two.
