Olt mayor’s son arrested for violent behaviour

Several days after the scandal involving the two sons of the Deta mayor, the son of another mayor, this time from Olt County, got in trouble with the police yesterday, The scandal took place in Pitesti and the young man, accompanied by a friend, was handcuffed and taken to the police station after refusing to show his identity documents to the community police and, allegedly, acting aggressively. The young man’s father, the mayor of a village in Olt County, argues his son was beaten by the police for no reason. “My son did not have his ID on him when the police asked for it. It is not that he refused to produce his ID. The police asked my son and his friend for their IDs for no reason. They were in the street, repairing a truck,” Gheorghe Barbu explained. According to the latter, his son did not have his ID on him and called him to bring it. He further stated that, when he reached the scene, to deliver the young man’s identity documents, the latter was being pushed in a police van after being given a beating, which caused him severe injuries. The mayor’s son was dealt a RON 100-fine for disturbing public order. (A.V.)
