Romanian Simona Petric wins salsa world champion title

The Romanian dancer Simona Petric, aged 28, won, on Saturday evening, the world champion title in the Puerto Rico Salsa Open 2011 competition, in the solo section, following the competition organized in San Juan, between July 16 and 30. Simona Petric is an ex-member of the band Mandinga and a co-founder of the Salsa Factory dance school in Bucharest, according to a release. She has managed to become a salsa world champion after long years of training. The grand favourite of the Puerto Rico Salsa Open 2011 edition was a local dancer, Jacqueline Ramos, who eventually came in third in the competition.
