Son of Cluj Court’s Criminal Section president, detained in Internet fraud case

The son of the Cluj Court’s Criminal Section president was detained, yesterday, for 24 hours, by the Direction for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) prosecutors in a case concerning online auction scams. The son of the magistrate Ioana Nora Boiciuc is charged with Internet fraud, according to sources in the judiciary, quoted by Mediafax. According to the investigators, another person was detained in this case, alongside the judge’s son. The two are under investigation in a case pursued by the Sibiu DIICOT Bureau in which suspects from several counties were heard, two weeks ago, for online scams. The group members are suspected of posting, since 2010, fictitious car sale ads on several specialised websites. The suspects are from Sibiu, Valcea, Alba, Mures, Cluj and Bucharest, as are the victims of the scams. According to the aforementioned sources, estimated damages amount to approx. EUR 100,000.
