The “Moara de hartie” (The Paper Mill) workshop-museum will be inaugurated on Saturday in the village of Comana, Giurgiu County, and the authors of the project hope to include the site in the local tourist circuit. The paper mill in Comana stands in a new building, erected especially for this project, which hosts historical tools involved in the making of handmade paper, bookbinding and relief printing, which visitors will be able to use during workshops. The workshop-museum is a project initiated by Dana Georgescu and Ion Georgescu, out of sheer passion for these old crafts. The building, which is yet to be completed, will resemble a paper mill – the place where handmade paper was produced. No such places endure, as the remaining ones were closed down in the early 19th century.
