Ex envoy to Ukraine, named head of EU delegation to Erevan

Traian Hristea, former ambassador to Ukraine, was nominated head of the EU delegation to Erevan. Romania thus obtained a new leading position within the European External Action Service (EEAS) after Viorel Isicioaia was named general director for Asia at the end of 2010, according to Mediafax, quoting a Foreign Ministry release. The document also notes that Romania now has 15 people in the EEAS – nine in Brussels and six on EU delegations. Hristea has been a diplomat since 1995, he served as ambassador to Ukraine between 2005 and 2010 and until recently, he headed the Foreign Ministry’s Prognosis and Political Planning Department.
