Cosmote Romania, Romtelecom increased their EBITDA in Q2

As OTE Group announced, yesterday, in the financial report, Cosmote Romania EBITDA profitability rose by 21 pc in Q2 2011 compared to the same quarter last year and by 26.3 pc compared to the previous quarter. Cosmote’s total customer base in Romania, including Zapp, was 6.6 million at the end of June 2011, of which 22.6 pc was postpaid. Total revenues in Q2 of this year reached EUR 114 M, an increase of 6.2 pc versus Q1 2011. In the H1 of 2011 total revenues reached EUR 221.3 M, down by 3.7 pc compared to the same period last year. Blended ARPU for Q2 2011 increased by 9 pc, to EUR 5.23, compared to Q1 2011, due to the launch of competitive, customer oriented propositions. On the other hand, Romtelecom’s EBITDA, increased 19.7 pc to EUR 29.2 M in Q2 of this year and the total revenues reached EUR 166.1 M, down by 7.1 pc compared to the same period last year. According to the report, the revenue decline was due to a drop in voice services, reflecting a 5 pc line loss and 9 pc lower ARPU compared to the same interval in 2010. The number of subscriptions for services offered by Romtelecom increased by 8.3 pc compared to June 2010, to about 4.9 million. In H1 of 2011, Romtelecom’s revenues decreased by 9 pc to EUR 332.4 M, and EBITDA dropped 38.6 pc to EUR 51.4 M.
