Oprescu wants Bucharest Zoo modernised

The general mayor of Bucharest, Sorin Oprescu, stated that the Bucharest Zoo could catch up with zoological gardens elsewhere, adding that this process could be completed during his future term as mayor.

“I think we could catch up with zoological gardens in other countries, at the beginning of my future term as mayor, I dare say, because I’m running for a new term next year and, if the people of Bucharest want us to go on doing something for the city, together, they will vote for me again,” Oprescu stated on Saturday while attending manifestations organized at Bucharest’s Zoo, marking the International Day of Zoological Gardens and Parks.

The general mayor further said there was a lot to be done, but added the City Hall was working on a number of possibilities, while waiting for a number of decisions from the judiciary, to start building the zoological park. The International Day of Zoological Gardens and Parks is celebrated every year on August 9.
