Romania’s regionalization remains a topical matter for the Democratic Liberal Party (PDL), but will be implemented after the 2012 local elections, the deputy Sulfina Batrbu, the president of PDL’s women’s organization, stated, yesterday, HotNews reports. “Decentralization and restructuring will be implemented as of this autumn, when the parliamentary session begins, by the pieces of legislation which need to be approved by the Government and Parliament. Sometime in June 2012 the restructuring and decentralization process should be completed, after which, following the local election, we will be able to ponder on the following stage,” Sulfina Barbu argued. She added the PDL’s National Standing Bureau would address in today’s meeting other two measures which precede the regionalization, namely, the decentralization and restructuring of ministries and local institutions. On the same occasion, the results of the commission which analyzed the proposed method of decentralizing and restructuring ministries and local institutions will be presented.
