The first edition of the Chitila Film Festival, a national documentary feature, fiction and animation shorts competition, dedicated to Romanian directors, will take place in the open air, by the Chitila Lake, near Bucharest, according to Mediafax. Film-lovers will have a chance to spend three evenings in late August (26 to 28) watching outdoor film screenings. The productions in the competition will be presented on a giant screen, set up on the Chitila Lake, next to the only water lilies’ reserve in Southern Romania. The organizers are now receiving the applications and the productions to make it in the competition will be analyzed by a jury made up of prestigious figures in the theatre and film industry, such as Mircea Diaconu, Eusebiu Stefanescu and Geo Saizescu. On the first two nights the productions included in the various categories – documentary, animation short and fiction short – will be presented. On the last night, the Chitila stadium will host the awards gala, which will also include concerts by Connect-R and Stefan Banica Jr. The public’s access to the festival is free.
