An Antena 3 TV crew claims to have been assaulted and cursed by Tourism and Regional Development Minister Elena Udrea’s brother, Adrian Valentin Udrea. According to the TV channel, the crew learned of the brother’s existence while they were shooting a story in Suceava, where Udrea’s grandparents are from.
The channel also said that not even Udrea’s Democrat Liberal colleagues knew of the brother’s existence. According to the same source, Adrian Udrea is currently unemployed, but he drives a rather expensive car. Moreover, his wife, Cristina Udrea, is executive secretary of PDL Bucharest District 6 branch and an adviser to the minister, the channel said. The TV crew found Adrian Udrea in an apartment in Drumul Taberei neighbourhood and asked him to give a statement, but the man reportedly assaulted them and cursed them.
The minister’s reaction followed swiftly. On her blog, she posted an open letter to Antena 3 owner Dan Voiculescu, accusing the TV channel of harassing her family. “To me, family is something sacred and it will always be that. (…) I demand you stop following and intimidating my family. These are ordinary people, with normal responses (…) who only wish to live in anonymity, away from the cameras,” Udrea wrote.
