Opera Promenade draws 1,000-strong public

The Opera Promenade enchanted the 1,000-strong public gathered on Saturday night on the Bucharest National Opera (ONB) esplanade, for the fifth edition of the event, Mediafax reports. This year’s edition of the Promenade was opened by the orchestra coordinated by master conductor Tiberiu Soare, playing Johann Strauss’ “Kaiser Walzer”, which delighted the spectators. The Lakme-Mallika duet, “Viens Malika… Sous le dome epais”, performed by Irina Iordachescu and Sorana Negrea, as well as Figaro’s cavatina, “Largo al factotum”, performed by Iordache Basalic, were among the most enthusiastically acclaimed performances. The show ended with the celebrated canzonetta “O sole mio” and the final piece of the operetta “Die Fledermaus”.
