Approximately 200 people were involved yesterday morning in a confrontation with bats and swords in Podoleni, Galati County. Four people needed medical care after the incident. The spokesperson for the Galati County Police, Stefan Gohoreanu, stated, quoted by Mediafax, that the row had broken out in the street, between two gangs of Roma. In turn, the spokesman for the Galati County Gendarmerie, Costin Barbu, stated that, according to preliminary information, the row seems to have been started after a member of one of the gangs hit a child by car, without injuring him, a couple of days ago. According to the latter, about 200 people were involved in the conflict, but only 15 were brought in for hearings for now. “The conflict was quenched, but gendarme squads are still patrolling the area,” Costin Barbu added.
