Former Tourism minister Akos Birtalan dies at 49

Akos Birtalan, a former Minister of Tourism and deputy of Covasna, passed away yesterday at the age of 49, Mediafax informs.

The president of UDMR Covasna, Tamas Sandor said that he was “deeply saddened” upon learning about the demise of the former UDMR deputy of Covasna. Akos Birtalan was Minister of Tourism during 1996-1998 in the Cabinet led by Victor Ciorbea, and represented the Covasna County in the Chamber of Deputies during 2000-2004. In the early 2000’s, he suffered a stroke. Akos Birtalan lived in Sfantu Gheorghe, was married and had two children.
