ANI checks UDMR Deputy Petru Lakatos’ assets

Inspectors with the National Agency for Integrity (ANI) asked the Oradea Court of Law to order an inquiry into the investments made by deputies in his home, having uncovered several wrongdoings. According to Realitatea.net, at first, ANI learned about a difference in excess of EUR 11,000 between Lakatos’ assets statement and his actual assets, including banking deposits and other earnings made in 2005, which the Lakatos family could not justify. Other discrepancies regard investments made in their Oradea home. While the deputy with the Democratic Union of Hungarians in Romania (UDMR) declared an amount of RON 324,000, the taxable value of the building exceeds RON 500,000. Despite ANI inspectors trying to get Petru Lakatos’ consent to an expert evaluation, the deputy would not agree to it.
