According to the National Prognosis Commission (CNP), the surplus that Bucharest will bring to the country’s economy this year stands at approximately RON 6.3 (EUR 1.5 bln). Thus, Bucharest has the largest share in the Romanian economy, followed by Cluj, Timis, Arges, Constanta, Prahova and Brasov, econtext.ro informs. At the opposite end, Giurgiu is the poorest county, its contribution being estimated at just RON 3.73 bln. Giurgiu is also the county that had the lowest year-on-year growth. Thus, CNP estimates that Giurgiu County’s economy will grow by only RON 150 M (EUR 36 M) in 2011. Covasna County is on the last but one position, contributing just RON 3.97 bln to the country’s economy, RON 180 M more than it did in 2010.
