Mihaela Popa resigns as PDL Iasi president

Democrat-Liberal Senator Mihaela Popa, yesterday announced her resignation as president of the Iasi County organization of the Democratic Liberal Party (PDL), on grounds of attacks against her, but also the internal disputes she had lately. “The frequent arguments and attacks against me and the party leadership by Mr. Dumitru Oprea are eating up and discrediting the party from within,” Mediafax quoted Popa as saying. Over the past few weeks, Senator Dumitru Oprea has criticized the way the PDL Iasi organization is run, also accusing the elections having been baselessly postponed a couple of times. The situation at the Iasi organization will be discussed at today’s meeting of the National Standing Bureau of the Democratic Liberal Party (PDL).
