Company gas prices up 10 pc from October

Industrial consumers will pay natural gas prices higher by 10 pc from the coming October most likely, under the pledges made by Government to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and by year’s end, the National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE) might pass yet another gas price rise, government sources told Mediafax, who added that gas distributors called on ANRE to pass a multistage  27 pc tariff rise to industrial consumers, as Government and ANRE decided that home consumers should be supplied mostly domestic gas, 40 pc cheaper than its foreign counterpart, for a period of nine months, which would allow home consumer tariffs to stay put. Labour Minister Sebastian Lazaroiu told a press conference Sunday that heat subsidies will be given this year only to low income families who earn up to RON 786/person. At Monday’s press conference called by the Social-Liberal Union (USL), Social Democratic Party (PSD) President Victor Ponta said the USL opposes heat subsidies being eliminated, saying government’s measure is due to impact over 1 M urban families. Ponta said government has subsidy money, yet it’s channelled to political clientele instead.

In his turn, PDL spokesman, Sever Voinescu, said the Government decision is to withdraw subsidy for heat, but heating aid will remain and its amount will increase, and this difference is what leaders do not understand the attack USL Executive initiative.
