Canoeing: Romania’s W8+ crew in WC final

Romania’s W8+ crew qualified on Wednesday for the final of the World Canoeing Championships in Bled (Slovenia), after finishing the playoff heat on second place, behind Great Britain, Agerpres informs. The crew (Maria Diana Bursuc, Ionelia Za­ha­ria, Cristina Grigoras, Irina Dornea­nu, Adelina Cojocariu, Andreea Boghian, Raxana Cogianu, Eniko Mironcic and Teodora Gidoiu) finished the race in 6 minutes and 8.72 seconds, 1.06 seconds behind Great Britain but ahead of the Netherlands and China. The Romanian men’s quadruple scull crew (Valentin Piticariu, Ionel Strungaru, Cristi Ilie Pirghie, Alexandru Palamariu) finished the second playoff heat on third place and was just 2.69 seconds away from a place in the semifinals.
