The new winners have been assigned of the tenders part of the National Infrastructure Development Programme for the construction and rehabilitation of “10,000 km of county and local roads”, HotNews.ro reports. According to the Development Ministry, Romstrade, a company controlled by Nelu Iordache, one of the businessmen dubbed the “kings of asphalt” won the offer for the roads in the counties of Prahova, Giurgiu and Ilfov. Dorinel Umbrarescu, another “asphalt king” has recently won the tender for the construction of roads in the counties of Suceava and Botosani. The Development Ministry also announced that works in Buzau and Vrancea were assigned to a consortium run by Vega 93, a company controlled by businessman Corneliu Istrate, also known for his many contracts with the Romanians state.
The open tender will be re-launched for rehabilitation and construction of county and local roads in Valcea and Sibiu, given the first offer was rejected due to lack of participation guarantee.
