Democrat-Liberal Alin Tise, chairman of the Cluj County Council, is seeking to continue construction works at the Transilvania motorway as a county road. Under the plan, the remaining 52 km will be built as a two-lane national road, according to the Evenimentul Zilei newspaper. Tise’s project has been around for some time, yet each time it was put forth it fell into oblivion all the same. Against the backdrop of government lacking the money needed to keep the project going, the Cluj County Council chairman brought up the issue, again. “The County Council could cover the costs and I believe Cluj residents see the heavy traffic being completely out of the city as a very important issue. This way, we would close a ring that’s very important to our city,” Tise also said. His statements come four days after PM Emil Boc assured that works on the Gilau-Nadasel stretch of Transilvania motorway, which Tise referred to, will be continued this year, provided the Transport Ministry-organized tender will be adjudicated.
