Romania drops in global competitiveness rankings

Romania dropped 10 places to rank 77th in the 142-nation global competitiveness rankings compiled by the World Economic Forum (WEF), hotnews.ro informs. Romania totaled 4.08 points on a 1 to 7 scale. In 2010 Romania totaled 4.16 points.  Romania is outranked by countries such as Morocco (73rd), Kazakhstan (72nd), Vietnam (65th), Montenegro (60th), Azerbaijan (55th), Hungary (48th), Poland (41st), Tunisia (40th) and Estonia (33rd). Romania outranks Ukraine (82nd), Argentina (85th), R. of Moldova (93rd) and Serbia (95th).  Romania is 26th at European Union level, outranking only Greece (90th). Compared to last year, Romania is now outranked by Latvia (64th) and Bulgaria (74th). Last year Latvia ranked 70th and Bulgaria ranked 71st.  Switzerland remains the most competitive country at global level for the third consecutive year, scoring 5.74 points. Singapore has climbed on second place, while Sweden is third. Finland climbed 3 places to rank 4th, being followed by the United States and Germany.
