InterContinental Bucharest – winner at the World Travel Awards 2011

The InterContinental Hotel Bucharest won the Romania’s Leading Hotel prize in this year’s edition of the World Travel Awards – section Europe.

It is for the second consecutive year that InterContinental Bucharest wins the prestigious award.

“The prize justly rewards the dedication and professionalism demonstrated by the whole team of our hotel. I am very pleased to see that our efforts of providing quality and the best services to our guests have been once again recognized by this prestigious award,” said Marten Schoenrock, CEO of InterContinental Bucharest.

Nine more InterContinental hotels of Europe have received awards in the famous event, known as the ‘Oscar Gala of the tourist industry’: InterContinental Vienna, InterContinental Aphrodite Hills Resort Cyprus, InterContinental Prague, InterContinental Paris Le Grand, InterContinental Park Lane, InterContinental Resort Berchtesgaden, Athenaeum InterContinental Athens, InterContinental David Tel Aviv, InterContinental Warsaw.

InterContinental Hotels and Resorts won the Europe’s Leading Hotel Brand 2011 award.

The InterContinental hotels won a contest joined by more than 500 organisations from Europe and were voted by more than 183,000 tourism professionals from over 160 countries. The InterContinental Bucharest has 257 rooms and suites on 22 floors, a spa on the 22nd floor, more than 1,500 square meters of conference areas, two restaurants and a bar. This year, it celebrates 40 years in existence on the Romanian market, where it was the first 5-star hotel.

The hotel is run by the InterContinental Hotels Group through a management contract. InterContinental Hotels & Resorts is the premium brand of the InterContinental Hotels Group chain, which operates 171 hotels all over the world, including 65 in the Europe Middle East Africa region.

In Romania, InterContinental Hotels Group is present with the brands InterContinental and Crowne Plaza – both hotels being located in Bucharest.
