The producer of batteries for the auto industry Rombat is in advanced talks with the Volkswagen Group, trying to provide the German carmaker with batteries for hybrid micro automobiles, starting 2013. This also means that the Romanian company abandoned its talks with Ford, aimed at supplying batteries to the car factory operated by the Americans in Craiova, according to HotNews.ro. The move comes as Rombat already acts as supplier for the Renault Nissan Alliance and for the French group PSA Peugeot Citroen. Rombat officials said that the products for the Volkswagen group must be ready for delivery starting 2013, as part of the Bistrita-based company’s strategy to become OEM supplier for a new auto maker.
