Metrorex – Alstom contract renegotiation memorandum passed

Government yesterday passed the memorandum between Metrorex and Alstom Transport following the renegotiation of the contract between the two companies, which will cut maintenance costs down 30 pc. “As a result of the renegotiation of the contract, the total rolling stock maintenance savings in 2011 amount to circa RON 83.87 M. Following negotiations, the two parties agreed to the contract value being changed by renouncing the payment of services corresponding to a fixed and a variable component (price/subway train car)  and the passage of the solution price/km for each type of rolling stock,” according to a Transport Ministry release. Also, Metrorex and Alstom agreed to improve maintenance plans for both types of carriages. The memorandum scraps the contract price adjustment formula by dropping the update and revision, so that the price will be adjusted annually according to the general inflation index published by the National Institute of Statistics.
