Health Ministry budget could receive extra funds from cabinet reserve

The Health Ministry’s budget could be increased by RON 150 M from the government’s reserve fund, according to a draft government decision posted on the ministry’s website for public debate. Under the project, the money would be used to pay for sanitary materials and medicine, according to Mediafax news agency. The project will remain under public debate until October 13.

The Health Ministry’s budget and the insufficient funds it received at the most recent rectification prompted then Minister Cseke Attila’s resignation earlier this year. The Democratic Union of Hungarians in Romania eventually appointed a reputed doctor, Ritli Ladislau as new minister, conditioning the move on a coalition deal to have the National Health Insurance House subordinated to the Health Ministry.
