The number of foreign tourists that will come to Romania next year, brought by the well-known tour operator TUI – Touristik Union International – will triple to 3,000-4,000, from little over 1,000 now, the CEO of the Eurolines travel agency, Dragos Anastasiu said yesterday, during the event of signing a partnership through which Eurolines took over the Romanian operations of the German group, thus launching TUI Travel Center, Mediafax reports. The estimation is based only on the number of foreign tourists that reach Romania by plane, the Eurolines official added. However, charter flights with direct departure from Romania will only be available two years from now, Anastasiu added. According to the same source, the number of Romanians that will purchase their holiday packages via TUI will reach 5,000-6,000. In 2011, the group’s sales increased by 60 pc and Eurolines agencies will end the year with sales of EUR 28-29 M. Eurolines also announced that it will invest EUR 100,000 in the first TUI Travel Center agency, which will be followed by 25 more over the coming months. The transaction allows Eurolines to also integrate the company controlled by TUI in Romania, in an operation that does not imply a transfer of stock.
