US Ambassador gets involved in ethnic Roma projects, in Baia Mare

While on a private visit to Baia Mare, the US Ambassador to Romania, Mark Gitenstein offered to become involved in all the projects dedicated to the ethnic Roma living in the town, including the project of relocating the Roma population to the Craica district. The diplomat said he is willing to become involved in solving the Roma problems, as long as the rights of this minority are observed and the financial resources of the community are taken into account. The US Ambassador agreed with local authorities over what should be done in the future and hopes that a common plan can be drafted that will respect the ethnic Roma and their needs, while also taking into account the means and financial possibilities of this community. While in Baia Mare, Ambassador Gitenstein also discussed about how he could help in implementing the plan in Bucharest as well, ‘Adevarul’ newspaper reports.
