PSD leader Victor Ponta to give up car races

The Social Democratic Party (PSD) leader Victor Ponta announced on Friday in Iasi, while attending a stage of the National Car Rally Championship, that this is the last year he is taking part in such competitions, arguing 2012 is an election year, which will afford him little time to spare. “This is the last rally I’m taking part in. There is one last stage, in Bacau, and afterwards I’ll leave it to younger and more talented people. (…) Another race awaits me next year, much less enjoyable than this one. The major problem is, if I happen to win, worse races will follow after 2012. Politics is nothing like sports, there’s no comparison between them,” the Social-Democrat leader stated, quoted by Mediafax.
