ZEW: Good economic outlook for Romania in September

In September, Romania continued to have the best economic outlook at six months in the Central and Eastern Europe region (CEE), against the backdrop in which countries such as Hungary and Poland reported steep drops in confidence, according to a survey conducted by the Zentrum fur Europaische Wirtschaftsforschung (ZEW), Mediafax informs. The index that measures the analysts’ perception or the next six months has dropped in Romania’s case by 5.5 points to -5.6 points. Slovakia is second with -35 points (after dropping 9.4 points). The steepest drop was reported by Hungary, a 31.8 points drop to -47.5 points. Poland dropped 21.6 points to -36.8 points. All CEE countries analyzed reported drops, with the exception of Turkey. At CEE level the economic outlook index dropped by 11.6 points to -38 points, the ZEW survey conducted in cooperation with Austria’s Erste Group shows. In what concerns the current economic situation, Romania is last but one in the region, ahead of Hungary. Romania’s index grew slightly by 3.5 points to -37.2 points. In Central and Eastern Europe the perception on the current economic situation grew by 4.4 points to 7.2 points
