The Ministry of Regional Development and Tourism has proposed, as part of the Danube Strategy, a European project in which Romania’s prerogatives include tourism and culture, that the Danube should have its own tourism brand that could be used to promote it at global level, Mediafax informs. “The Danube will have its own tourism brand,” Udrea stated on Wednesday at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs during the first meeting of the Board of Directors of the National Forum on Implementation of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region. Foreign Affairs Minister Theodor Baconschi, Culture Minister Kelemen Hunor and Environment Minister Laszlo Borbely also attended the meeting. Udrea added that local authorities in the areas located close to the Danube should be included in the Danube Strategy and should be encouraged to file projects. Also yesterday, Environment Minister Laszlo Borbely stated that for the time being no risk of hikes in the price of energy stems from Hidroelectrica’s drop in production, but pointed out that the government will discuss the situation in detail in the following period. He also pointed out that the first registration tax for cars will be applied until 2013.
