Securing the stocks of raw materials for the production of electricity and heat during the 2011-2012 winter will cost RON 5.69 bln (EUR 1.3 bln), 34 pc more than the previous winter, according to a decree passed by the government Wednesday, Mediafax informs.
The stocks will be contracted by the electricity and thermal energy producers controlled by the Ministry of Economy and by local administrations. Securing the supplies of energy materials has cost RON 4.25 bln in the winter 2010-2011.
According to the document passed by the government, in the interval October 1st 2011 – March 30, 2012, power plants will generate 12.1 million MWh of electricity (3.5 pc more than a year ago) and 1.8 million Gcal of thermal energy. The quantities of energy materials expected to be consumed this winter amount to 8.8 million tons of lignite, 564 thousand tons of pit coal, 313 million cubic meters of natural gas and 13.3 thousand tons of fuel oil. The winter programme is coordinated by the ministries of Economy, and Administration and Interior, and by the county and local authorities that operate power and co-generation plants.
