Dan Diaconescu launches his party in Timisoara

OTV channel owner Dan Diaconescu on Saturday officially launched his People’s Party-Dan Diaconescu (PPDD) in Timisoara, in the presence of hundreds of supporters, according to daily ‘Adevarul’ online. In his speech, Diaconescu, who has already announced his intention to run for president next year, promised jobs for youth and a EUR 20,000 grant to all Romanians who open a business with at least one employee, if his party takes over power. Diaconescu also insisted that his party will not seal any alliances with other parties ahead of next year’s legislative elections. The PPDD leader then heavily criticised various politicians, including President Traian Basescu, former President Ion Iliescu and former PM Adrian Nastase. “I also want to tell you here, in Timisoara, four certainties: Traian Basescu is president, Dan Diaconescu went to jail, Dan Diaconescu will be president and the fourth – Traian Basescu will go to jail” he said, quoted by ‘Opinia Timisoarei.’
