The American Under Secretary of State Ellen Tauscher, who led the US negotiation team during the sealing of the anti-missile shield agreement, will visit Bucharest next week and is to take part in a conference organized by the Institute of People’s Studies (ISP), a think-tank set up by the Democrat-Liberal Party (PDL).

According to ISP, the conference titled “The Anti-Missile Shield – Implications for Transatlantic Security”, to be chaired by Valeriu Stoica, having as special guests the Romanian Foreign Minister Teodor Baconschi, American Under Secretary of State Ellen Tauscher and the presidential aide for security affairs Iulian Fota will take place on Thursday, October 6. The American official also has scheduled meetings with the Speakers of the two Chambers, Mircea Geoana, and, respectively, Roberta Anastase, parliamentary sources stated on Saturday for Mediafax.

Ellen Tauscher, as well as other US State Department officials, were invited last week by the Deputy Speaker of the Senate Cristian Diaconescu to attend the ratification in the Romanian Parliament of the anti-missile shield agreement.
