OMV Petrom to hike by 6 pc price of gas delivered to clients

OMV Petrom (SNP) intends to hike by approx. 6 pc the price of gas from the domestic production delivered to clients, from RON 495 to RON 525 per 1,000 cubic metres, which will have an impact of less than 1 per cent on the price paid by industrial consumers and will not affect the population, the company announced, quoted by Mediafax. The company states that the hike abides by the Romanian legislation and meets the Government’s commitment to the IMF and the EC to liberalise the natural gas market by gradually raising prices. The National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE) announced that the price of gas for industrial consumers was hiked by 8 per cent as of October 1, while the price paid by households and thermal energy producers remained steady.
