State favourable to declassifying Bechtel contract

Transport Minister Anca Boagiu stated during a talk-show that the Romanian state was favourable to declassifying the contract signed with Bechtel for the building of the Transilvania highway, but did not have the American company’s approval to make the terms of the contract public, Mediafax reports. The minister added that, under one of the terms of the contract, the company Bechtel was entitled to receive EUR 1 M monthly, regardless of the amount of work put in. Boagiu further stated that it would be a challenge to complete building works on the Brasov-Bors highway, as it would be difficult to ensure state funding. On the other hand, the Transport Minister further stated on Sunday that IBM had announced its decision to invest in a technological park in Targu Mures, following talks initiated last year and a transfer of plots of land to accommodate the necessary infrastructure.
