The world’s biggest beer festival, the Munich Oktoberfest, has a younger brother in Romania. Deutsches Bierfest is running in Bucharest until October 8 (every day 5pm to 2am) behind the Grozavesti metro station, opposite the “La Jaratic” Restaurant. Entrance is free.
Deutsches Bierfest takes place in a huge tent which can accommodate over 2,000 people, brought straight from Germany, akin to those used by German alehouses during Oktoberfest. Each night of the festival has had its own theme and included typically Bavarian or Romanian artistic manifestations, culminating on October 3 with a special night meant to mark Germany’s National Day. The surprises which await visitors include traditional games and competitions and raffles in which they can win countless prizes, in beer.
Today’s concerts include the Burnasul Ensemble, The Teachers Orchestra, JayBi and Karpaten Show, while tomorrow visitors can listen to Romano Boutique and, once again, The Teachers Orchestra, JayBi and Karpaten Show. On Friday, it’s time for Taxi, to be followed on Saturday by Vunk and Hara and, on Sunday, by Spitalul de Urgenta.
