Baxter and Belupo fined RON 7.8 M

The Competition Council dealt RON 7.8 M-fines to the drug-suppliers Baxter, from the Baxter Switzerland group, and Belupo, the second largest pharmaceutical company in Croatia, as well as their distributors, for sealing agreements which prohibited the export of the two companies’ products, Mediafax reports. Baxter and its distributors, Actavis, Farmaceutica Remedia and Sofmedica, received a RON 5.99 M (EUR 1.38 M)-fine for signing agreements which contained provisions prohibiting the export of Baxter products. The companies Baxter and Farmaceutica Remedia admitted to this action and, as a consequence, their respective fines were reduced by 20 pc. The company Belupo, lijekovi & kozmetica from Croatia and its Romanian distributor, A&G MED Trading, were dealt a RON 1.87 M-fine for signing an agreement containing a provision which prohibited the export of Belupo products.
