Dinu Patriciu has maintained his top position in the ranking of the wealthiest Romanians, for the third consecutive year, according to the 2011 edition of the Forbes Romania 500 Billionaires ranking. The ranking will be published in the latest issue of the business life magazine “Forbes Romania”, edited by Adevarul Holding, coming out today. The total wealth of the richest Romanians amounts to EUR 25.1 bln, slumping by EUR 3.1 bln, respectively, by 11 pc, from last year’s figures, forbes.ro reports. The assets of the top ten billionaires in the ranking account for nearly a third of the total wealth of the 500 and amount to over EUR 8 bln. Thus, Dinu Patriciu, with investments in media, energy, real-estate, banking and IT&C, has an estimated wealth of EUR 2.1-2.2 bln, dropping by approx. EUR 100 M from last year’s figures.
Frank Timis ranks second, with EUR 1.2-1.3 bln. The latter has investments in oil and mining exploitations, the pharmaceutical sector and research. His estimated wealth is rising by approx. 100 M from last year’s estimates.
Ioan Niculae, who holds the third place, maintains his last year position, with an estimated wealth of EUR 900 M-1 bln and investments in farming, trade, real-estate and tourism.
The billionaire Dan Grigore Adamescu claims the fourth position, with a wealth of EUR 900-950M, shrinking by approx. EUR 50 M from last year’s figures. The latter’s ventures include real-estate, retail, insurance and tourism. Ion Tiriac ranks fifth, with an estimated wealth of EUR 700-750 M, approx. EUR 50 M below last year’s estimates.
