iPhone 4S, possibly available in Romania by year’s end

“From the information we currently have from the producer (Apple – editor’s note), we will launch the iPhone 4S terminal by the end of this year,” Panos Makris, Cosmote Romania’s Commercial Director, stated yesterday for hotnews.ro. Orange Romania representatives talk about the end of 2011 too. “There are talks, we are engaged in intense negotiations with Apple in order to offer the iPhone 4S in Romania. I hope we will have more information in November.

Apple decides the launch of iPhone 4S in each country. We are in talks with Apple in order to speed up this decision. Let’s hope we will be able to launch the new phone in Romania before the end of the year,” Orange Romania CEO Jean-Francois Fallacher stated in Cluj-Napoca, Mediafax informs.

Meanwhile, according to Mihai Ghyka, Commercial Director on Vodafone Romania’s physical persons segment, the penetration rate of smartphones in Romania stands around 5 per cent, in contrast to 8 per cent at world level, with higher percentages seen in more developed states.

In this context, Samsung Electronics announced on Tuesday that since the launch of the Galaxy S smartphone last summer, it sold a record number of 30 million units, of which more than 10 million Galaxy SII terminals (this smartphone’s most advanced generation). The announcement comes a day after Apple announced that it sold a record number of more than 4 million iPhone 4S units, only three days after this product was launched.
