Bucharest’s ArCuB hall will host on November 3 and 4 (starting 8pm) two presentations of the “Anivertango” concert, in which the Nuevo Tango Quarter invites us to an encounter with some of Astor Piazzola’s trademark tangos, marking 90 years since the artist’s birth. The concert also marks 130 years since the initiation of diplomatic ties between Romania and Argentina and 80 years since the opening of the two countries’ first embassies. The event, initiated by the Cervantes Institute in Bucharest and the Argentinean Embassy to Romania, is organized in collaboration with ArCuB – Bucharest City Hall’s Cultural Project Centre.
The two concerts in Bucharest are part of Nuevo Tango Quintet’s national tour, to take place October 13 to November 30, including concerts in a number of Romanian cities: Arad, Baia Mare, Cluj, Hunedoara, Iasi, Lugoj, Oradea, Odorheiu Secuiesc, Sibiu, Targu Mures and Timisoara.
“Anivertango” will bring on the ArCuB stage five virtuosi: Alin Stoianovici (bandoneon), Sascha Bota (violin), Roxana-Yvonne Cosereanu (piano), Ionut Dorobantu (guitar) and Johnny Bota (contrabass) are restoring Piazzolla’s tango to its rightful position – closer to classical music and closer to jazz. The programme will include: “Verano Porteno”, “Otono Porteno”, “Fugata”, “Invierno Porteno”, “Primavera”, “Revirado”, “Milonga del Angel”, “La muerte del Angel”, “Resurreccion del Angel”, “Libertango”, “Romance del Diablo”, “Escualo”, “Oblivion”, “Concierto para Quinteto”, “Adios Nonino”.
Tickets, at prices ranging between RON 35 and 15.90, can be purchased from the ArCuB box-office (14, Batistei Street).
