Frank Timis was declared the wealthiest Romanian, with EUR 1.65bln, according to Top 300 Capital, although Dinu Patriciu came in first in the Forbes ranking. Thus, Timis is followed by Ioan Niculae, the Adamescu family and Ion Tiriac, and Dinu Patriciu ranks fifth. Frank Timis runs a mining business and lives in London.
The total wealth of the Romanian billionaires included in this year’s edition of Top 300 Capital amounts to EUR 29.5bln, ebbing slightly from last year’s figures. Out of the 300, 14 live abroad and 121 live in Bucharest.
The second position in the ranking was claimed by Ioan Niculae, which has made an estimated EUR 1.6bln out of investments in the chemical industry, agriculture, foreign trade and real-estate. The wealthiest Romanians’ top three closes with the Adamescu family, with an estimated wealth of EUR 1.2-1.3bln, made from their investments in the insurance sector, real-estate, constructions, tourism and media. The Tiriac family ranks fourth, with EUR 1.1-1.2bln drawn from banking, car investments and real-estate, followed by Dinu Patriciu, with an estimated wealth of EUR 1-1.1bln, from investments in real-estate, financial services, media and the retail sector.
