The Chamber of Deputies’ Budget and Finance Committee approved on Tuesday with a majority of votes the bill for the Chamber’s 2012 budget, which is set at RON 216.5 M, 5 pc above last year’s figures, Mediafax reports. The secretary-general of the Chamber, Gheorghe Barbu, explained to the MPs on the committee that the budget bill stipulated slight rises in staff costs, which would not envisage wage raises, but professional advancement for employees with higher education. He added that repair works on the Palace of Parliament’s main entrance staircase had been included in the budget, stating that the steps had deteriorated and something had to be done. According to the secretary-general, repair works on ten elevators were also included in the budget. The bill also stipulates the continuation of works on the underground parking and raises of social security costs, Barbu further stated. The bill for the Chamber’s next year budget is to be analyzed by the joint assembly.
