Paintings from National History Museum collection in “Portret in istorie” exhibition

The National History Museum of Romania (MNIR) presents the exhibition “Portet in istorie” (Portrait in History), opening today, at 11am. Over 40 paintings from the museum collection, portraits of Romanian historical figures, from the Middle Ages to the present age – princes of the Romanian Principalities, leaders of the 1848 revolution, Romanian politicians, writers, artists, military leaders, diplomats or monarchs, such as King Carol I or Queen Marie. The exhibition also includes a series of objects from the museum collection, which belonged – or were associated – to important historical figures.

Through this exhibition the National History Museum of Romania wishes to bring (back) to the public’s attention a series of iconic historical figures which had a decisive influence on the national destiny.

The exhibition is running until February 15, 2012, and is open to visitors Wednesday to Sunday, 9am to 5pm.
