The deputy president of the Cluj County Council, Radu Bica, detained for bribe-taking after accepting EUR 25,000 offered by two persons in exchange for assistance in winning a bid for maintenance works on the Cluj Arena stadium, was committed to preventive arrest on Tuesday evening by the Cluj Court of Appeal. Radu Bica’s lawyers stated they would file an appeal at the High Court of Cassation and Justice (ICCJ). In the meantime, Bica is yet to be suspended from office as, under the public government law, the prefect can have him suspended only when the arrest sentence is final.
