Drobeta Turnu Severin Mayor Constantin Gherghe was involved in a car crash in the centre of the city yesterday morning, after the car he was traveling in was hit by a vehicle whose driver ignored the right of way. “The driver of a vehicle with French license plates ignored the ‘Stop’ sign and hit the vehicle in which the mayor was in, throwing it into a pole,” the local police spokesperson stated. The Mayor and his driver were taken to hospital but doctors stated they are not in any risk. The doctors established that the mayor has minor trauma to his elbow, while the driver has head trauma. “I wish you would never go through such an experience,” the Mayor told journalists when leaving the hospital, Mediafax informs.
