A fire engulfed the Piatra Neamt Public Notary office of Cristina Soric, wife of former Neamt Police chief Aurelian Soric. According to the local Police, the blaze was caused by an unknown person who broke a building window and threw a bottle containing inflammable substances into the office. Both the furniture and the office equipment have been damaged by the fire. Aurelian Soric had been the head of the Neamt County Police Inspectorate from June 2006 to November 2010. Interior Minister Traian Igas requested that Soric be put on trial for his statements about loan sharking and his conduct surrounding the killing of Gheorghita Mararu, an underworld figure, on Nov 14, 2010, and for his leadership style as head of the Neamt Police Department. Soric is also accused of being unable to justify assets worth RON 360,000.
